I had never thought that I’ve to write about the Oktatabyebye Freeze Frame Travel Photography Contest so soon. The organizers have scrapped the –ve voting, which incidentally I did not talk about in the last post.
No I didn’t miss it. The only reason that comes to mind that why I didn’t mention about –- ve voting was that I visualized an ideal scenario, where the good photos/videos are voted in (+ve vote) by members and poor/suspicious ones are voted out (-ve vote). But unfortunately it was not the way the contest behaved.
Here is what site coordinators had to say -
“It has come to our notice however, that many participants are misusing the power and franchise of the concept of -ve voting. In disrespect of fair-play, healthy competition and ethics, they are resorting to nasty and anonymous -ve voting of their nearest competition, themselves and through friends. It is not something we didn't anticipate here, but rather were confident that people would be upright enough to desist. Sadly we have been proven wrong.”

Sadly so they’ve to do it midway. But it was the right thing to do to keep the sanctity of the contest.
