Trek to Tungnath, Uttarakhand

At times the universe do conspire in helping you what you want to achieve. I saw this thought from Paulo Coelho's popular book The Alchemist working. For a long time I was contemplating a trekking trip but was finding no headway. Just last week, things materialized and I am on my way to Tungnath this week.

Though tickets are not confirmed and the way I see the trend, it is rare if that will happen. But I am keeping my fingers crossed. Lord Shiva may come to my rescue. For those who do not know about Tungnath. Here is a brief introduction.

Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedars scattered in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Tungnath is a 6 km trek from Chopta. And my research on the place says, it is an easy three-hour trek. I have plans to go to the Chandrashila peak to see the stunning sunrise that many have mentioned. Chandrashila is further up the Tungnath shrine. It may take close to one hour or more to reach the peak. If this trek does not seep all my energy, I shall try to make it to Deoriatal.

Weather in the region is the only thing that's bothering me. Rains at this time of the year are not very uncommon. I just hope that it does not throw our plans out of gear. Lord Shiva I am coming!
